If so, did it do as it was supposed to do? were there any problems with whatever it did? Thos Posted February 22, 2007 Report Share Posted February 22, 2007 I did the scan with it and it found just under 400 "problems" and I allowed it to repair those few which it could do for free. I think CC cleaner would have found and repaired those also. They were registry "issues" left after an uninstall.I would like to know a lot more about it before paying.Thos. I wasn't thinking of using it, just wondering it the claims it makes bear up to scrutiny - which it seems they don't, entirely. I looked up somethings about it and it seems that people like it but I'm wondering like everyone else here how good it really is compared to others. Reducing the registry file size(s) by 0.5% doesn't mean anything related to performance or free disk space. "Registry cleaning" however can seriously damage installed programs or Windows. Even harmless CCleaner I have seen doing irreparable damage (over in the CCleaner forum). I have long ago stopped "registry cleaning", and my computers are just doing fine.I do not believe in services that offer "free" problem analysis, then you have to pay to repair the "problems". Coreper Posted February 23, 2007 Report Share Posted February 23, 2007 CCleaner, Registry Booster and Registry Mechanic are 3 great toolsthe best way to get ALL invalid or other unneccessary registry entries removed, is to scan multiple times:i usually scan three times with CCleaner, twice with Registry Booster and ,last but definitly not least, twice with Registry Mechanicthis usually concludes in a 100% clean registry!note to Lamp Chomp:a while ago there was an action or something which allowed you to get a free full version of Registry Mechanic 5but i dont know if that action still counts...
