Sorry to read about all the flooding problems over there and I hope your rains stop soon.

The last few days it has stopped, then restarted, then stopped, then restarted. It can't make its damned mind up. Some of the showers have been awesome.

I feel desperately sorry for those people, BUT, most of us have over the years HAD to find the insurance money, and it could be highly contentious to bail these unfortunate people out. It would encourage others not to take responsibility for their own lives. The whole problem rests with the mortgage lenders as discussed in another topic. They are responsible for lending too freely, thus forcing up the cost of housing leaving people struggling to pay insurance. If they had insisted over the years on a decent deposit, and restricted borrowing to more affordable limits, then housing would not be so expensive, thus leaving cash to spare for insurance.

Ferry operator P&O has been asked to help provide temporary accommodation for displaced victims of the recent flooding in Hull.

A P&O spokeswoman told the BBC it had been asked by a loss adjuster to provide a passenger vessel which would be berthed in King George Dock.

She said: "We are investigating whether any ships are available. But they also have to be suitable for the port."

As many as 35,000 people were affected by flooding in Hull.

More than 10,000 homes were evacuated and many schools were closed.

Seven schools in the city are not expected to reopen until next term.

The P&O spokeswoman said the request was "very recent" and declined to make any further comment BBC

I think it is a wonderful insight into the effectiveness of Prezzer .

Just imagine, he's your MP, in charge of housing policy and environmental matters, and has spent yonks trying to cover the country with concrete, and then all this happens just as he gets "promoted" to the Brussels trough.

He will need his cowboy boots to wade through Hull...he certainly does not look like going gambling in them.

Maps red again ....will this be our wettest summer ever ....?

More than likely the way things are going. Another soaking on the green this morning. I don't know how the grass is standing up so well to all this punishment.

We have a flood plane adjacent to our home. Fortunately, we are somewhat elevated.

However, one never knows what the future might bring.

For the time being, we have the pleasure of an array of wildlife. But it certainly makes you think.

Seen it very many times when driving down the M6. It's a wonder that the government hasn't made the local council build houses on it.

This is our road - in sarf west London - an hour ago :0
I'm even more glad than ever that we chose a house on high ground.

We are avidly watching the field(s) and stream at the back of our house!!!

If you see a post with lots of bubbles, you'll know that the worst has happened. :0
