It's not very nice out there. Management and I have just had to go to Beverley, to inspect some planning documents at County Hall, that had to be seen today. We did get there eventually, after braving lots of "lakes". We were half way through our task when a chap appeared, at the door of the office that they had let us use, and said we would have to leave because there was so much water on the roof that it had penetrated it and all the electrical system was dangerous. That meant the building was to be shut down until everything was made safe and usable again. Fortunately I had just got one of the girls to do some photo copying for me and so we were able to come home with most of the information we wanted.

Coming back the road we wanted had been closed by the police, and another two we tried were also impassable, though no notices had been posted (I suspect they had run out of them). We did eventually get back by heading out through deep water in the Driffield direction and then turning west once we had got up on the top of the Wolds. Even that way we were were luck to get through. Many of the roads were under at least a foot of water. I am just thankful for a diesel engine and Merc. door seals.

The government is allowing, and even encouraging councils to build on every available piece of land, this includes flood plains. Builders of course are quite happy with this, as once the house is built and they have their money, they are happy. Gay meadow, the home ground of Shrewsbury Town F.C. floods several times a year. They have just moved to a new ground, and naturally their old ground has been bought up for housing development. The whole point is that as soon as a flood plain is built on, not only will these houses flood, but water will then be channelled toward land that has previously flooded. How stupid can you get?

Isn't that the team that play in frilly shirts with lace collars, tutus, and ballet pumps and run around with thier hand bags over their arms, because management will not allow them to pile them in the middle of the field whilst they play.

Hundreds of victims of the floods that have devastated swathes of England may not be able to return home for up to 18 months, officials said today.

More than 90,000 people are believed to have been forced to abandon their homes or been forcibly evacuated from their properties nationwide
