The ethos is generated at the top level and permeates downwards, generally degrading overall on its journey. The ethos at the top has been increasingly dishonest, impractical and shifty for a couple of decades now and can not have failed to have had its impact lower down. It IS the government to blame Alan. She admitted that there had been a similar occurrence a month ago, although on a smaller scale. After that occurrence, measures were supposedly taken to ensure that this did not happen again so having compromised one lot of people, they can't even sort out the mess to avoid it happening again. There was a security expert on the programme as well. He said that report upon report had been passed to this government in recent years, outlining possible security flaws, and offering suggestions to overcome these problems. Every report had been rejected. The minister claimed that in fact they were still looking at them, this is the usual stock excuse. It was the excuse always used by my previous employer when I used to have to chase up old quote requests, and I am well used to hearing it and knowing what a pointless excuse it is. They are a disgusting apology for a government. Many of these problems, the security expert pointed out are a direct result of Brown's incompetence and refusal to listen during his ten years at the treasury. This is made even worse by the fact that these disks weren't sent by ordinary mail, but INTERNAL MAIL.Unfortunately, my daughter has two children, and is probably involved in this fiasco.My question is, why did this fiasco take so long to come to light? ( The Chancellor admitted that HMRC had made the same mistake on several occasions in the past six months. Mr Darling said that he was informed of the security breach ten days ago and, four days later, asked the police to investigate. )Extracted from here. I have become so cynical about the media in general that I have long since stopped following the "news" they put out.Management has the Daily Mail delivered each morning - she sucks the print off almost every page. For me I visit just the cartoons, crosswords, Sudoku and sports pages only.Similar with TV - I never watch the news or the political programmes - I prefer to be entertained and not bamboozled.
