doug
For those wondering as to where catgate's excellent stories about his earlier life titled "Life's Little Tales....." ------- they have been moved to the Subscriber's lounge at his request. Non-subscribers will have to cough up to see them.
Mike567
To be brutally honest, I don't see the advantages of paying what is it £7 a month?Seems like a lot of money for a new forum section, does it not?
rong
£7 a year
doug
Thanks for that rong, I was just checking up on it and you saved me the bother. There are many advantages for being a Subscriber - check out the link at the top of the page. Catgate asked for his threads to be moved there for personal reasons and we are happy to oblige. Watchful
What a shame :( Perhaps they would be subject to plagiarism on general view. I hope we've not offended you catgate?
andsome
The whole point about the subscription is that it is voluntary, and there are those among us who think that it is damned good value, and helps out with the running costs. £7 a year causes me no hardship, even on a pension. :D
Watchful
It is good value.
artist
What a shame :( I agree. Why won't they be on the open forum? I can't see that there will be any more subscribers...............
Irene
£7 per year equates to about 2p a day. When you consider that a packet of cigarettes cost something in the region of a fiver and a bottle of wine costs anything upwards of that...... and they only last a day or so!!It must be the best value item my pension goes on! IMO this forum is second to none. It's clean, honest and offers more collective knowledge than you would get from most other single sources. The quality of the maintenance of the website is superb.Did anyone get the impression that I like the forum?

artist
The point is - you don't have to pay subscriptions on other sites and no one should be forced to pay.Not that 'lifes little tales' is going to pursuade anyone - entertaining as they are. Watchful
I'm currently reviewing the forums I visit and am going to cut down on them. Haven't decided which yet but time is going to force it.I don't subscribe to any at present but I may do in the future and just stick to one, or two B)
gordythegouge
To Pay?....or not To Pay? (All sounds a bit wiggish to me!) However.....seeing as I have paid...Catgate!... I'm coming in...see you in the Subscribers Lounge!!

Irene
The point is - you don't have to pay subscriptions on other sites and no one should be forced to pay.It is optional on WF.Help and assistance is available to all equally, subscriber or otherwise.I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally, am happy to pay the small amount to help to support the upkeep and maintenance of the website. Non-subscribers will have to cough up to see them. Will you next be putting Alan's daily thoughts in the subscribers lounge? I don't really care about catgates thoughts on life and frankly never read them, but the move was a bit ridiculous IMO.But hey.....The sun will rise tomorrow and life goes on. doug
As I said in my opening post on this thread, the move was solely at the request of Catgate for his own personal reasons. Beginning to wonder if I should have just moved them and kept my trap shut. Then we would have had numerous posts asking what had happened to his stories. andsome
I have had correspondence with him, and fully understand his reasons for wanting the stories moving. Personally, I enjoy them, and I still think the forum is excellent value, subscribers lounge or not. :D
AlanHo
Will you next be putting Alan's daily thoughts in the subscribers lounge? I don't really care about catgates thoughts on life and frankly never read them, but the move was a bit ridiculous IMO.Since you don't know why he had them moved - can you be absolutely sure that it was ridiculous. I corresponded with catgate last evening and fully understand why he asked to have them moved - the reason was far from ridiculous IMO.Regarding my thoughts for today - so far as I am concerned they will stay in the open forum in the hope that they will be read - even enjoyed - by all visitors. Some of the more profound ones may even help to give people who exhibit pessimistic tendencies a more positive outlook on life.
