Belatucadrus
I'm surprised the results were announced, I was expecting a four week delay followed by Ken announcing a second round of votes due to the lack of overall majority, preceded by roving gangs of extreme left wing council election veterans beating up anybody wearing a blue tie. Perhaps he can use his bus pass to go off newt fondling in some stagnant pond somewhere, hopefully never to be seen again. Though that's probably wishful thinking, Ken does like the sound of his own voice and I'll bet he finds a platform to exercise it somewhere, does celebrity big brother beckon ? Tankus
Caught something on one of the political blogs , cant remember which .....The Broon's seat is now run by a liberal council in an SP run government , and he works in a Conservative run city ..... He will go the full stretch to 2010 to build up his pension , but I cannot help feeling that he will have a Portillo moment on re election ...might jack it in to save embarrassment ...methinks in hope ... remember Blair's speech ....and then he had to take it from the dead soldiers father who ran against him ......Its a pity Keys did not get more votes ....heh ...Ho ho alan

CurlyWhirly
DITTO. There is no way that I would flock to LabourThere's no way I would vote for Labour either as my tax has also doubled on my wages but what's the alternative? The Tories never voted for the national minimum wage or the 10p tax rate and have no intention of putting it back (if they are elected) and so they are just hypocrites

CurlyWhirly
A far cry from 11 years ago...We will govern for all of the people...This isn't happening at the moment with an attack on the poor with the abolition of the 10p tax rate and I don't believe them when they say that everyone will be compensated
CurlyWhirly
I loath that man, and all those in his party who claim that he is the finest Chancellor ever. What a load of idiots they all are. Remember when one increase in the retirement pension was if my memory serves me in the region of 50 pence a week. Maybe someone can remember the exact figure. It was the insult to pensioners with the 75p rise and that was another political 'own goal' like the recent 10p tax fiasco!Compare that with this. — Tony Blair and his Cabinet colleagues will enjoy retirement on final salary pension packages worth £25 million — The Cabinet pension pot will fund annual payouts of more than £50,000 for senior ministers, with the Prime Minister set to receive £123,000 a year — At present Gordon Brown can expect a pension of at least £53,000 a year, which would more than double if he becomes Prime Minister Taken from an old news item HERESo they are lining their own pockets then and don't give a damn about the public
Tankus
problem is ...one quarter of the working population is paid by the state ......and the broon has mortgaged us to the hilt ...the big fat deep money pit needs feeding.... plus broon was in the habit of staggering tax increments at a later date , while spending that money now ...... banking on a GNP rise and tying the hand of future chancellors , just to look good ...weereee doooomed

catgate
The big thing that people forget is that in order to live food has to be grown. In order to be warm clothing has to be made and heat provided. These things can not be done from offices. They can not be done by lending notional money and claiming "interest" on it nor can they be done by robbing Peter to pay Paul. Nor by any "service" business. Yet the political and business "parasites" of the western world see nothing odd in allowing the productive population to provide sustenance, comfort and well being for them and also make obscene profits too. There are far too many Chiefs of every type and insufficient Indians to support them. The problem is exacerbated by a lot of the Indians being hypnotised. catgate
............and in about 50 years time, China will rule the world. The financial bubble will really have burst by then and China will have no customers. The sham of pensions (private and/or state) and the "Welfare State" could not possibly exist if it were not for inflation, and yet the con merchants that "lead" us try to pretend they are trying to reduce it.
