Irene
Well, I did it yesterday. B) I believe the result is certainly going to be more desirable than the last operation on the other eye. It would seem that when the biometric measurements were compared from Capio Rowley with the recent one's done at Cannock Hospital, there were what I believe to be not insignificant differences. However, the Consultant Surgeon used the latter one for his decision on the power of the lens on this occasion.Whilst I still can't see completely clearly yet - due to pupil dilation and the required settling time - I know that there is already distance vision present. I look like I've done a few rounds with Mike Tyson , but that will subside over the next week or two. There were a couple of events during the course of the op... First was when the anaethetist was administering a 'numbing' fluid into my eye through a needle into the corner of my eye, the connecting tube burst, spraying the liquid all over me. I'm sure you can imagine my horror at that point. Then towards the end of the operation itself, I heard the Surgeon call that there was too much pressure behind my eye! The anaesthetist promptly inserted an intravenus into my hand to administer a quantity of 'Diamox' (I think it was called). By this time I was rigid with fear and the Surgeon said to me, "Can you take some deep breaths please.. I don't think you are breathing correctly". He was not wrong!! However, it is now all behind me.. Thank heaven!. I just can't wait to see how far and clear I will be able to achieve in the end.Oh yes, the Consultant may also do some lasering to my left eye in due course, to try to bring it a little nearer in equalisation. If he can't, then I will make do with one eye for near and middle distance and the other for the rest. :D
-pops-
I'm really glad for you, Irene, that it's gone OK (eventually).Did you find you needed an urgent wee after the Diamox? It's a very powerful diuretic (reducing the pressure in the eye in exchange for pressure in the bladder)
catgate
Nice to know things look more optimistic than before.Oh ...do remember ...'Diamox' is a girls best friend.

I'm told that eating bamboo shoots might be good for black eyes .... make um last longer .....It's not that my eye is black (except the centre), but that there is not much apparent white (it's 'blood red') around the iris and pupil. Not a pretty 'sight', but it will be worth it in the end. :D ... artist
Glad to hear it went OK - almost. It's a good job that we're mostly out of it in the operating theatre - I wonder how many 'mishaps' they have that we don't know about.Did you watch the new programme about surgery last night? It could have been worse......... :
andsome
Glad things worked out better this time. It's not a thing that I would even consider, I will stick with specs. :D
Irene
Glad things worked out better this time. It's not a thing that I would even consider, I will stick with specs. :DIt is certainly a relief to have it behind me. It's wasn't just a matter of displacing the specs, it's the cataract which obscures your vision, gradually getting worse over time. When looking into bright sunshine (when we used to have it), it was almost impossible to see... all 'blanked' out.

I thought that you were having expensive laser treatment in order to do away with specs. Silly me.

I won't ever be without the need for some correction or other. ;) Only one of my eyes will have true distance vision. The other is still -2. At least one eye will always require reading correction....The solutions are endless. I hate to be predictable.
