If I cook at home tonight (chance 50%), then I may choose between Bucatini Amatriciana, or Porcini Risotto.

Sounds nice. What is it?

I can tell you Porcini is a mushroom that is often sold dried, and has an aroma of pig shit. I ofter wonder if that is where it gets its name.

Bucatini Amatriciana sounds like an exotic and expensive sports car made in America, but I'm sure it's a thick spagehtti with some sort of sauce.

I've noticed in some threads on this forum that people are going slightly or way off-topic and are being either asked or told to resort back to the original topic and thought maybe this forum needs a little bit of a conversation thread, hence this post.

So how is everyone's day beginning? Or ending, depending on where in the world you are, when you view this topic, and all the other factors.

EDIT:- Just realised that some of you may consider this thread as spam - just to let you know this was not my intention at all.

OK. Lets say an SUV travels a maximum of 100 km/h. Its speed decreases in proportion with the number of passengers. Lets assume that the SUV can carry a maximum of seven people and that it can travel 88 km/h with 3 people in it. So what will be the speed of the SUV when 6 people are on board?

I opted for the risotto, but I made the mistake to use brown rice. The result - after one hour of cooking - was very much like catcate described it in his earlier post. I will only use proper Italian rice in future...

Look at my 'Risotto' link above; it says in the first chapter

Its origins are in North Italy, specifically Eastern Piedmont, Western Lombardy, and the Veneto (where Vialone Nano comes from), where rice paddies are abundant.

To be honest, I have never seen a rice paddy in Italy, as I usually stick to the cities. I have, actually, very rarely seen rice paddies in Japan, as I usually stick to the cities...

3 people slowed the car down from 100 to 88. An extra three would slow it further by the same difference. However - this assumes we are counting only the passengers excluding the driver and they are all equally obese since it is the extra weight that is slowing the vehicle.

We are also ignoring the fact that there will be less fuel in the tank during the second part of the drive - which would reduce the weight being carried.

Correct. I math terms:

100 - 3t = 88

100 - 88 = 3t

t = 12/3

t = 4 km/h reduction in speed per person

100 - 6t = 100 - 6(4) = 76 km/h

I've actually got a good question which I need some help with. Don't know if it's mathematical or scientific or anything but :

Say there's a hover-fly on a stationed bus. This hover-fly is doing its hover-fly thing by hovering still on the spot and then suddenly the bus begins to move.

Will, Henry the hover-fly move at all because of the pressures inside the bus, or will it continue to hover on its original hovering spot?

According to Max Planck, Pythagoras, Isaac Newton and Gladys down at the chip shop, providing Henry is inside the bus he should just move rearwards very slightly when the bus starts its forwards motion and as the bus comes to a stop he should just move forwards a liitle. On the other hand if he is ourside the bus .....ta ta Henry.

The question I have on hover fles is this. If you took an English born hover fly to Australia would it hover upside down??
