We had just had some lunch and walked out of the café, when my lips felt numb. The next half hour seemed slightly vague. During the week end I had a few more of these episodes. The doctor diagnosed a mini stroke and put me straight onto a small daily dose of aspirin. I saw a specialist who confirmed the diagnosis and ordered a brain scan and ultra sound test on my neck. The ultra sound test was fine, and I will get the result of the scan next Tuesday. Meantime I am not allowed to drive. I have had no more episodes and feel fine.'Er indoors asked me to go with her to Walsall using our bus passes at the beginning of the week. All was fine until we went to the bus station to get the bus back home. She suddenly started to feel really unwell, and was at times almost unconscious. The ambulance took her to hospital, and a blood test showed an abnormality in one particular reading. She was told this morning after a CT scan that she has a tumour in the skull. Luckily it has calcified and appears to be benign. It is attached to the skull by a membrane, and is not in the brain itself. The result has been sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, and we are now waiting to see if she needs an operation, or whether it will be left as it is. We are hoping that we get a positive answer from The Q.E. hospital today, and that the recommendation is to leave well alone. andsome Posted March 13, 2009 Author Report Share Posted March 13, 2009 Latest news is that the specialist at the Q E in Birmingham was able to examine the scan results earlier than anticipated. He says that it looks very much as though nothing needs to be done, BUT, he wants another scan done after injecting a fluid into the veins. This evidently shows up more. andsome Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Share Posted March 14, 2009 When she was taken ill in the bus shelter she had very bad diarrhoea. Yesterday afternoon this returned and she started being sick. She is much better this morning, and samples have been sent to the lab for analysis. It seems possible that she has simply picked up a bug, and that the faintness at the bus station was a symptom of this, and nothing to do with the benign tumour, which she has obviously had for many years.
