Another operation

I came home yesterday after the knee arthroscopy. I went in the day before. All went well. Apparently they repaired and smoothed out the cartilage and smoothed out the rough bone joint. Painful you may think - in fact I have less pain now than before and am walking well with one crutch.

They said there is a lot of degeneration in the joint so I suppose another knee replacement is on the cards eventually. I'll know more when I go for the follow-up in 6 weeks.

I had a 'special cocktail' of anaesthetic to hopefully prevent the three days of sickness which seems normal for our family. It worked a treat! The nurse said it's new.

I am on a week of injections into my stomach - done by me , and three months of warfarin as a precaution against blood clots - having survived two- the third could be the unlucky last........

Have also brought home the same hospital bug as last time - sore throat and chesty cough.

Oh what fun is arthritus!

Best of luck, artist.

I remember having the self administered abdominal injections for about six months after my heart surgery. It was Fragmin - a heparin derivative to prevent blood clots.

All the very best, artist. :flowers:

It all sounds horrific!

I have arthritis, but it's nothing like that. I count myself extremely fortunate in that respect.

The thought of the self-inflicted injections make my knees go wobbly!
