It is a hang over from childhood when we used to trek round like Bedouin in the desert from one oasis to another. My mother's family were obsessed with Christmas. Uncle Norman's for Christmas day, all back to our house for Boxing Day, over to Aunty Clara's for the first Sunday after Christmas (these were the times of a two day Christmas break) then off to Aunty Ethel's for the Sunday after that. It left me with a dislike for Christmas that has not diminished as the years have gone by. In fact as I have grown older, and seen what a big sham it all is, I think of all the poor young souls who are going through the fatuous myth, only to discover, eventually that they have been lied to, on all sorts of levels.But, there we go, I am just a miserable kill joy at heart Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The Windows 7 weather gadget selection is excellent, I use the weather one. It can be configured to anywhere, and mine is set to Burntwood GBR. I have to get 'er in bed through to the Borders General Hospital, (40 miles away) by 15:10 hrs this afternoon. She has to have an Endoscopy, yuk. This time the medication didn’t do the trick so 2 weeks ago I was sent for an endoscopy and stomach biopsy which revealed I have an Hiatus Hernia and inflammation of my duodenum and gullet. I had to remove my hearing aids during the test which resulted in some confusion when the technician told me what she had seen. I thought she told me that I may have something called helicopter piles. I told her that I had no idea they had shoved the camera that far down and it possibly explains why I do a vertical take-off upon sitting down when “things” are bad. However – after I replaced my hearing aids - I understood her to say that the correct term was helicobacter pylori, which is a bacterial infection of the stomach. The lab results confirmed last week state I am clear of such infection - my problems are entirely caused by the hiatus hernia.Yet another daily pill to be taken ad infinitum.EditAs I was typing this post we had the most amazing snowstorm - I guess it would qualify as a blizzard. One minute it was tranquil with almost clear skies and sunshine when suddenly a ferocious wind blew up, it went dark within a minute and down came dense snow for about 4 minutes which immediately settled.
