Latest figure's from the UKIP on a flyer through the door today is telling me that by Britain being a member of Europe that it's costing us £45,000,000.00 per day.

Those numbers look like the sort of numbers Gordon would look upon as good. They fit well with the left wing philosophy of the redistribution of wealth.

I don't understand how it can please Gordon Brown to be giving taxpayers money to Brussels huh.gif

I would vote Liberal Democrat but I am not in favour of even more powers going to Brussels and I feel that there could be a Liberal Democrat/Labour pact if no one party gets an overall majority and, personally, I couldn't stick another 5 years of Gordon Brown blink.gif

Exactly my feelings. the Lib Dem's will never win a majority as long as they remain dedicated to handing over the remnants of our Independence to Europe. (What precious little now remains).

They would put it to a Referendum. If the people vote to go in, then we go in, if the vote says keep out, then we would keep out. They would not just take us in.

You can blame the Conservatives for taking us in to start with. It was Ted Heath in 1973 that started this whole bloody European mess.

That is of course true, but he took us in to a common market, seen by most of the electorate as a good thing. It was Labour under the pipe smoking idiot who ran a second referendum without telling us that we were voting in reality for a federal European state.

If this is true, why did your beloved Tories not have a referendum during their 18 years in power. laugh.giflaugh.gif

It was probably because they had no one with your insight and forethought to guide them.

Or maybe they did not have the same strange views on Democracy that you peddled on here some years ago.

It still does not change the fact that for 18 years the Tories never held a referendum.

No matter what you think about the EU, the Tories or most other political parties will never hold a referendum, as the UK

farmers, " the lovers of all things Tory" will lose out on all the EU markets and all the subsidies that they get from CAP.

You only need to drive through the countryside, to see the hedgerows awash with posters extolling the the virtues of different Tory candidates.

Don't anyone think that by voting for Cameron they will get a referendum on EU membership, because the sky will be full of flying pigs before this happens.

So Robbers Dog, you are saying give Gordon another 5 years and then Labour will have been in power for 18 years without a referendum.

I do not trust any politicians, but I will vote for the party that in my opinion is best for me.

I like your signature :D

I like this Tory policy and I think this should happen whoever is in power i.e. not just because it's Gordon Brown and any Tory Prime Minister (or Liberal Democrat PM however unlikely) who assumes office without going to the electorate should be obliged to hold a general election.

I am heartily sick of the entire lot of them. They lie, they cheat, they steal, they promise what they know (or should know) they can not deliver, and then they claim that electoral/manifesto promises are not "real binding" promises. What a shower of moronic imbeciles. They are more childish than infants in a school playground.

They are so far removed from reality that they think people are guilible enough to believe their hollow fictional outpourings, when in fact the only thing that these out pourings do is show the wiser voter who is the most dishonest politician.

They expect the punter to listen to what they promise and not think about their past record, which is always failure, and can be no other, considering who and what they are.

Worst of all, such is the lack of intelligence and insight of these people that they either can not see all this for themselves, or look upon the electorate as being so stupid that they will fall for their lies and false promises,...or maybe both.

The unfortunate truth is that the majority of the electorate are ignorant and stupid. If they vote - it is for the wrong reasons.

For example, on tonights TV news I saw a woman being interviewed - she said she had always voted Tory - but this time will vote Lib Dem because Cameron has got a funny looking top lip and Clegg is the most handsome. How moronic can you be.

She obviously knows nothing about each of the party's Policies , not that they will ever amount to much even if she did. But to vote on which one of the leaders is the better looking is totally moronic.

Agreed.

I prefer to go for policies and manifesto pledges (not that they are usually kept after the party has been voted in)

Quite a few manifesto pledges have been broken over the last 13 years and who is to say that it would be any different if the Tories or Liberal Democrats were elected?

No wonder why the public is so cynical of politicians in general.

The modern variant of the stiff upper lip demonstrated so perfectly by Sir Alec Douglas Home.

It's the same as those who always vote for whichever party because that's what I've always done and so did my mother and father. Over the years, I started off voting labour, moved on to the Liberals, and later Tory's. At one European election I voted UKIP.

As noted elsewhere, a few elections ago, I voted for the Pensioners Party - now seemingly and sadly defunct.

With the apathy amongst younger members of the electorate to actually get up off their backsides (or even get out of bed) to vote, or even to go to work, the over 65's form a very high proportion of voters. Messr's Cameron, Clegg and the other one would be wise not to forget this.
