AlanHo
My wife has dabbled with water colour painting for a few years, decided she would like to try oil painting and she has been looking for some classes to teach her the basic techniques. She found some beginners classes being run on Saturday mornings in Ludlow - which is only 7 miles from where our country home (static caravan) is sited in the Far Forest. I decided to have a go myself so we booked a couple of places on the course last Saturday which was a good excuse to spend a few days at our caravan - especially whilst the weather is so nice.I have never tried painting before (other than home decorating of course) and was a bit concerned that I would make a fool of myself. I needn't have worried - the teacher was very competent and it all went well. There were 12 of us on the course and we were guided, step-by-step, to paint a picture of a field of poppies which we took home. Since there were two of us on the course, we now have two similar pictures drying in the dining room - and really only need one. This gave me an idea........................... B) In general, a painters early works of art tend to command a higher value than later works - and all his work significantly increases in value after his death. I am very old, I therefore have a relatively limited life expectancy, hence purchasing my works could produce significant early returns for a savvy investor. I thought that it would be nice to give Forum members the first opportunity. Here is your chance to buy the very first work of art ever produced by a budding master painter - relatively soon to be a late master painter - which is on box canvas measuring 16" x 20" and signed with my proper name rather than a pretentious pseudonym. I am asking for just £250 for this superb work of art which would grace and enhance anyone's shed, outhouse or toilet. The picture is currently too wet to ship - but as soon as it is dry in about 3 weeks time - it will be sent to the lucky buyer by parcel post. Registered delivery of course. This photo does not do it justice but gives you a rough idea of the superb composition, floral display and choice of colours. It brings a lump in my throat just looking at it. I can assure you that I am a far better painter than a photographer. We have also booked the next class on the course - where we will be painting a sea shore scene. I will be adding into my landscape an outline of a fisherman throwing stones at the seabirds on the shore line. I will call this picture "Leaving No Tern Unstoned". This will be a larger canvas with much finer detail which will command a much higher price. I am open to offers.

He has to sit still while he looks at himself painting, if he is painting himself he must be moving and not sitting still.
