I am still here... just about.

I've been having a few health problems - the last of which, is that I have Atrial Fibrillation (Heart Failure)! :0

I suspect it has been around for some time, but came clearly into view last week. So I have been GP and hospital attending for tests of all kinds.

No doubt it will continue for some time until they have it under control. Then it's something I will have to learn to live with.

However, I will still be here, particularly when things settle down a bit. ;)

Oh dear, Irene, how unfortunate for you. I'm sure all of us send our extra special best wishes.

I've lived with a faulty heart for many, many years and although it gets you down activity wise, your brain remains working OK. This can be very frustrating, particularly coupled with osteoarthritis but, I get by!

Regarding Bela's post, it seems that Gandalph's absence is the one causing the hiatus.

Sorry to hear that Irene. We cant do without you here - you taught me how to print a screen about 10 years back and think of you every time it do it now.

Plow on don't let it get you down. Always someone somewhere worse off somewhere my old gran used to tell me and it works.

@ Pops My osteo arthritis is under control these days with high dose of green lipped mussels from New Zealand. Sea Tone original and first maker of product.

Maori's have always eaten them as part of their diet and never suffer from osteo, read that in 1979 and started taking them when found knees really painful by 1980

Do try them, can get them online in UK in 500mg capsules too. Sea Tone. Other brands about but they have been doing them since 1970.

Here is link to read to FAQ - dose is low as I said - but natural - take them with food or can repeat and fishy taste. I take around 5000mg a day. 10 caps.

They say less but then it depends on how much pain, I started with less but then still found painful when stuck to dose recommended, then thought silly to worry about upping and taking more as it is natural - could eat a kilo of them at any one time or more and not kill me - make me sick if consume too many like any food I suppose anyway been taking this amount for last 20 years and on days when i have overdone it and the old knees remind me I have osteo - I take a couple extra going to bed and next day all pain gone. . :D

Anyone here also over 50 should be taking D3, B12, CoQ10 all good because the body doesnt replace last 2 and avoiding the sun we dont get that D3 either.

Thanks everyone. :)

Will see GP again tomorrow to see where we go from here. I am feeling far less pain from a lower back issue - had it since before Christmas. GP sent me for x-rays on pelvis and spine. We'll sort out that prognosis after the 'ticker' problem. ::).

Don't you just love maturing age! :D.

However, less of my problems. WHERE ARE YOU GANDALPH?

Lamb Chop

Thanks for the suggestions regarding green lipped mussel. The big problem is that I cannot take anything involving or containing bivalve shellfish - mussels, oysters etc. I'm OK with arthropod fish like lobsters, prawns and such and also with gastropods - whelks and such.

With mussels I have to be within close range of a toilet to avoid embarrassments!

Regarding the other suggestions, I already take a number of supplements, including vitamin D in a high dose. I do find this helps a lot with knee pain.

Irene I have a continuous pain in my lower back and both shoulders. X-rays etc have diagnosed Arthritis. So I rub in Piroxicam gel, Trade Name Feldene gel prescribed by my GP. Splendid stuff made a big difference. One of the reasons I stopped jogging.Mind did have to do some running last week when I took G'son to see Lego The Movie and had parked in the wrong car park so had to sprint. Wasn't too bad. Will have to give my retiment from exercise some more thought.

PS is this thread developing into a series of Sam links? If so will have give my knuckles a good wrap.

I pop in daily for a look, but can't get on with games forums, and other content is a little lacking.

Irene, I hope all goes well.

pops, have you tried Healhspan for Vitamin D? They do a 1000mg tablet of D3, which is the best form. You will find them on line.

Seems I have been a bit overwhelmed with support, sales and service: Along with cramming a bunch of Linux stuff under my cap to broaden my horizons as well as a knowledge base for current and future issues that may oir may not arise.

Starting to love Linux and am using it (Slacko) as dedicated OS for work laptop.

Hope all is well here....

To edit:

I just realized that some few years ago I was pointed to Slackware as an alternative Linux distro to play with: I snubbed my nose. Now my primary work laptop is running Slacko Puppy Linux and it rocks.

Irony...?

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I'm back again. I had to go to London Head Office to see the Directors to help get this U.S.A thing sorted out. I wash't expecting having to go when I got back from the States, it's just the Americans couldn't explain what I had done to fix the problem they were having.

I agree with Irene -creaks and groans from maturing bodies are just not cricket.

But if we didnt get these, then those lovely people who make billions out treatments for our aches and pains, might well have to apply for benefits.

Well as a self proclaimed "Expert" as long as you could it's OK. Just remember to use a great many polysyllabic words, "terse" and "to the point" does seem to cause some confusion. Two nations divided by the same tongue and all that.

That is a thing that has always puzzled me, where the word 'Expert' came from that is above my Avatar. I never put it there. I would never proclaim myself as an expert in anything. Always had me puzzled that one.
