And English.

We call it Maths.

Good to see you over here. :P

I think it's slow everywhere at the moment to be honest. First bit of proper sunshine over here so everyones probably in the garden.

I know we are, I'm thinking of having plastic grass :shifty:

Hurdy, I guess you mean British English? As old as I am, I think you will have to suffer with mine. I know how you feel about the grass. I would pave mine & paint it green if it wasn't over an acre.

Moon, thanks for the clarification & I agree.

To the rest of you. Thanks for the warm welcome!!!!

WELCOME! I tried the pit for a while but had difficulty understanding what was being said most of the time.

Pitsters probably have trouble understanding us and our humour too :D

If they are taught English at school, as they almost certainly are, they should have no problem. Our problem is trying to understand what they do to the language after they have been taught it. I understand Tracy Lynn OK. I find it particularly difficult to understand what black people are rabbiting on about. This is NOT meant to be a racist remark, just the truth. Many sentences are completely incomprehensible.

I have to agree with both of you. Mark, I'm slowly getting used to the extra letters inserted into some of your words (humour for instance). I'm afraid your slang will take a lot more time. This is why I'm doing more observing than posting.

andsome, when my children were in grade school, I had to correct notes sent home by their teachers & ask them not to complain about the kids until they could do so in English. College professors have complained many times about school systems that graduate youngsters with poor reading & writing skills.

Andsome's vision of British Bulldog empire building grammar schools has long disappeared into a misty past ,( along with his youth ....arf arf )

The problems facing our nippers (sorry in PC speak ...young persons ) are not too dissimilar from yours, Huged
