doug Posted April 11, 2005 Report Share Posted April 11, 2005 Thought I'd mention that I've been having a bit of bother with this smashed elbow of mine. Been giving me a bit of Gip. One scab on the tip of the elbow has never healed up - nearly 4 months now - and there's been a bit of discharge. Doc keeps putting me on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. Anyway first a bit of bright metal - Titanium? - appeared at the base of the hole and now - as of yesterday a screw head has popped out. Have finally managed to get an appointment for tomorrow pm - they couldn't get me in today because of Audits! So I may officially have a screw loose!. Had a brain scan once because of hearing problems but they didn't find anything. So this latest is adding to my medical profile. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

-pops- Posted April 11, 2005 Report Share Posted April 11, 2005 Just spoken to the medics in the family and they say not to worry too much - is isn't unknown to have this scaffolding poke through occasionally. Depending where it is and what it's doing, it may be possible to remove it competely (the bit poking out, that is) as your bones will now have had time to knit together. That made a total of three and a half cell's they have found to date :lol:Best of luck with the repair Doug. It should be all over in a jiffy. Tony Posted April 12, 2005 Report Share Posted April 12, 2005 Hi dougI had that as well a few years ago.One of the screws just above my ankle which held a 40 cm long pin in my leg started to unscrew it's self.I first noticed a little bump where it was, then after about 3 weeks this bump was just like a marble sitting under the skin, and hurt like hell if it got knocked, so i went to the doctor to see what was wrong, and he said "you have a screw loose" :D, went to the hospital and they removed it under a local anaesthetic for me.Good luck with yours :flowers: Tony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When the nurse was trying to do a swab by brushing the screw head with cotton wool it was an indescribable sensation. I thought the pain had been coming from the adhesive dressing sticking to my manly hairs on the arm. Anyway the eventual outcome will depend on what they find. The X-rays indicate that the breaks haven't knitted yet so, normally the metalwork would stay put but this would leave an open wound so you could say it will be exploratory. The loose screw is the one on the extreme left of the attached pic., the whole of the screw head is now sticking ot beyond the flesh. Gruesome ennit?
