Although each pill is indeed £12.50, you need to have £50 because they will be sold in packs of four.Though you can get them "over the counter", in fact, you will have to undergo a question and answer session on your medical history etc. and risk being refused. Presumably records will be kept also because any further purchases will require a more detailed examination from a Boots "expert", taking blood pressure and so on.I suppose for some young men who can't get it up this would be a good attempt to help them, but in my view a visit to a doctor would be a better bet.Thos. -pops-
On a serious note, why don't people appreciate that Pfizer are ripping people off? £12·50 a tablet is extortion. Just because sex is involved they think they can get away with charging anything they want.Let it not be forgotten that Sildenafil citrate came out of research into anti-hypertensive/cardiac drugs - an area where there is intense competition and the cost of medication is relatively low because there are so many drugs already on the market. It follows, then, that the line of research being followed would have to be for the new drug to be low cost. It was only after clinical trials were in progress that the side effects were noticed - side effects that became the marketed use for the drug. A look at the chemistry involved in the synthesis of Sildenafil shows, indeed, that it is relatively easy prepare (even though dangerous) and thus relatively low manufacturing cost. Similarly with the other erectile dysfunction preparations like Tadalfil and apomorphine.

Much profiteering goes on under the guise of "paying back" research costs. Then again how much are Boots taking out of the £12.50?Another slightly amusing thing about this is that Boots, at one time, would not sell condoms....for religious reasons.Edit:- This latter gives the lie to the old story:-"Where can I get some condoms, quick?""Why don't you try Boots?""What do you think I want do, kick her to death?"
