If this subject has been covered before - I apologise - but my memory is not what it was.

I am curious about the history is of some of the more unusual forum names - what made you choose your's...?

Such as :-

Deuces Wild - was this something to do with a poker game - or perhaps the old film about gang violence - or what .?

Tankus - the first entry when Googling produced an Urban Dictionary definition which seems very inappropriate - so what was the real background

andsome - was this the result of finger trouble or a lack of a spill chqkr

Nellie2 - who was nellie 1

catgate - Was this the result of a scandal over a cat - (watergate reference)

pops - perhaps an affectionate term used by grand-children - or what..?

Artist - is she really an artist by profession

Gandalph - perhaps taken from The Chronicles of Gandalph - or what ?

Panarchy - perhaps a reference to wanting to be in charge of global governance.

My name - AlanHo - was allocated automatically by my first internet bank a few years ago - comprised of my first name and the first two letters of my family name.

So what say you about your's.

With apologies to DW for any offence this reply may cause to him or any other person reading this,

"catgate" came from Catgate Farm, This was the name of an old place we bought and renovated in the early 70s and left, to move here, in 2000.

I should perhaps have added that the reason i was given for the name of the farm was that since it was right on the edge of the village, at the side of a gated lane leading out to common land, the name was a corruption of CATtle GATE.

You are quite correct about my moniker. All the family know me as pops now and even the dogs (ours and my son's) know who pops is and in a phrase like "Take it to pops" the dogs will bring whatever it is to me.

This should answer some of your queries http://www.windowsforum.org/forums/index.p...;hl=Forum+Names
That was interesting reading.

Lots of people there not posting any more.

Thanks rong, but I don't remember seeing yours. :D

I noticed this also, I wonder what they are all doing now? Ellas/Madboy33 to name a few... <--- not in the post but a few names I remember from before

My forum name is a shortened version of 'jaynothorl' - an anagram of my real first name and surname.

Any sad puzzle-solver type should be able to work out what the two real names are in about 30 seconds.

;)

I got it in about ten seconds John.

My name... expert + technology... something I came up with when I was young and foolish and signed up at the other place... It kind of stuck after that, I've used it on so many sites now...

I guess it's fairly obvious though, as someone on a different forum once said "you've lived up to your name" after I helped them out... ;)

My name (andsome's not gonna like this  ) Pushkin, is not only from the poet....writing poetry is one of my hobbies.....but it is also the name I gave to a rescued cat who, unfortunately, was too far gone to save and he died. He was a beautiful Tabby cat with large, soft, black paws and he'll always be in my memory :(

PS. I have two other forum names: watchful - which speaks for itself and June - which is my real middle name.
