AlanHo
I am not a great football fan and have resisted World Cup mania. However - having seen the recent results listed in todays newspaper - it seems to me that this World Cup has turned out like WW2. The French surrendered early after much in-fighting in their own ranks, England are left to fight the Germans and the USA arrived at the last minute. andsome
After the fiasco of the first two England matches, I nearly didn't bother with the last one. I was at a loose end so watched it, and quite enjoyed it.:)
Belatucadrus
I'd need to be at a VERY VERY LOOOOOOSE end to watch a football game of any description. Boooooooring. Has that dented my street cred as one of the lads ?Oh dear better get back to knitting that bobble hat then.

Belatucadrus
The ad breaks are the only good things about the footie coverage on ITV, they serve to break up the monotony of the "beautiful" ( I could pee myself laughing ) game. catgate
The entire "ethos" of TV has changed. At one time you had one person, usually a person of some maturity, speaking to the viewer and explaining something or other. I am thinking of Raymond Baxter, on Tomorrows World, David Attenborough on his early wildlife series, even Johny Ball and his kids programmes. The current format seems to be two or more people sitting on a sofa, or in a commentary box, talking to each other and giving the viewer the "privileged" of eaves dropping on their puerile, cliché ridden conversations. It was only necessary to have one news reader now it is at least a duo.

What I want to know is why dosen't the BBC and ITV open a special sports channel when these things are on so that normal programmes can be left intact for the people that don't want to watch the damned Football. Do they think all Brits are fotball mad.

I hope you don't mean Coronation Street, Eastenders, Emmerdale, and all the other multitude of soap operas, with everyone balling at and sh****** each other. BORING BORING BORING. -pops-
My TV watching these days comprises watching The Weakest Link (BBC1 @ 5-15) which goes off if I've seen it before and can remember it. The Simpsons (C4 @ 6-00) which goes off if I've seen it before and can remember it (most times now). C4 News @ 7-00 and that's about my lot.My interest in anything that involves hitting a ball around a pitch, court, course, field or whatever is zero. This is because I have an inherited condition which prevents me from seeing, or at least registering, small fast moving objects. Snooker is about the only thing which is slow enough for this condition not to apply to but, even then, some fast moving shots defeat my comprehension. The remaining TV I don't watch because it is mostly crap. Belatucadrus
Soaps, possibly the only TV progs more boring and pointless than Footie.Sorry not true, there's also any kind of reality TV, anything with antandec and any makeover programs without the underwear challenged Charlie Dimmock. -pops-
I saw the mentioned Ms Dimmock the other day in Tesco (or was it Waitrose?) - she lives near here.I must say she hasn't worn very well.

AlanHo
We may have been kicked out of the tournament - but we British remain undaunted. Our heroes are determined to beat the World at something - this is our attempt at an all conquering Vuvuzela.

Gandalph
Just in from another footy "enthusiast".It wouldn't have made mush difference if the goal had been allowed, it would only have meant that Germany would have won 4 - 2 rather than 4 - 1. :D
