AlanHo Posted December 1, 2007 Report Share Posted December 1, 2007 Anyway - I doubt that when he gets the last cable plugged into its proper socket, the event will be regarded as the beginning of the end - more the end of the beginning (as Churchill once described quite another battle).The fun will really start when the beast is first switched on and it is time to set up the BIOS, load software, install drivers and fine tune it all. Hopefully, we are in for a treat and I suspect that the proliferation in posts will make the thread one of the biggest on Windows Forum. Panarchy Posted December 2, 2007 Author Report Share Posted December 2, 2007 UPDATE (on my progress so far)Things done;Unpacked the case from the boxInstalled PSUInstalled MotherboardInstalled RAMInstalled thing to do with Zalman CNPS 9700Install the CPUInstall the DVD burnerInstall the hard-drive(s)Hook up the case's fans to the motherboard (or whatever)Things left to do;Neaten up the 'plugs' and cables inside the case to optimize airflowInstall the Graphics Card (8800GT)Boot up my computer (wish me luck!)Update the BIOSInstall the OS's that I need (and partition the drive)Install the software that I need (including the software included with the DVD burner & motherboard)I feel that I am so close, yet so far away! When it is EVENTUALLY finished, just see how long it is before we get several threads along the lines of, "what is wrong with my new computer", he is almost certain to mess it up, as you will know if you have followed his many other experiences. trackrat Posted December 2, 2007 Report Share Posted December 2, 2007 Well said DW, I have followed this thread and while I agree with what andsome has said it is becoming tiresome.When I think back to the first time I built a computer in 1998, such a thread like this which covers everything would have been invaluable.Ok Panarchy does not follow the advice given him or read the manuals, but this thread is covering all the pitfalls you can have on a first time build.I await with anticipation for him to get the graphics card and start the computer up, that is when his problems could begin.
