Eurovision Song Contest

I think it's probably the first performer since I can't remember when, who have a chance of a music career outside the ten mile radius from their home village.

Lordi aren't even the best metal band in Finland, but they're totally OTT and a lot of fun. Kudos to the Finns for not fielding the usual formulaic europap.

I see we didn't quite get a big fat zero, I think the foreign juries must have felt pity for the nation that presented Daz, four girls who can't sing or dance and one of the naffest rap records ever conceived as something suitable to represent them in an International competition. Even if said competition is the kitschest pile of doodoo in the known universe.

I had a right laugh at Spain's entry, the group that is, Las Ketchup, who the hell came up with that name. They may well have called themselves El Tomato, lead singer Heinz Von Grossenfarten.

I would much rather sit and stare at the wallpaper to see if it starts peeling of its own accord. Or even better still, sit and watch a snail sliding slowly across the garden. Much more entertaining thanks.

What a choice on last night's television.

Eurocarp on BBC1.

Assorted has-beens, ne'er-do-wells and misfits on ITV, including the Royals (Ant & Dec) and assorted members of the Windsor (Wales) family.

and

A view of a dozen or so of the mentally disturbed on Channel 4.

Used to watch it years ago but can't be bothered now. However, I do think Wogan's comic intros are the best things about the show.

I saw the Finnish winners on the news this morning and I am glad somebody likes them, I didn't.

There are more and more entries each year so as an entertainment programme it must be classed a success. Saturday night TV, for me, is a desert, a time for books, crossword puzzles and the occasional evening out at a Pizza Hut.

Thos.

We got it Sunday night here as of course being so many hours ahead always get these things next day or next year HA HA.

So we were informed who had won on the 6 oclock News.

I quite liked the Finland lot and could see why they won it, at least on catchy song and a lot on costume - it stood out from the rest which was a bit too much of a muchness and who on earth do they all have to vote for the nieghbours, makes a nonsense of it.

UK was terrible, well girls were good if they had left the rap singer outside may have got more points :D

Seems to me the better the technology gets, the worse the talent and TV movies get. British TV programs we find are the best as at least they put the light on and dont run around with torches, and cut the music mostly when someone talks. so can hear them. Does help the story line B)

It's called *A victory of presentation over content". It is used to hide the fact that the the money is used on admin. instead of buying 'worth'. Though it must be pointed out that the 'worth' is no longer there. I wonder what they will find to fill the great void when the world wakens up from its current TV hypnosis? Or will it?
