andsome
We ended up with more on the ground than the day before. Looking outside at present, it looks as though a very slow thaw has started.
Irene
The thaw has made a slow start here as well. :) This is how it was yesterday afternoon after we returned from Cheshire, just before it went dark. ..... It was a horrible journey back. The snow got worse as we travelled south. It was a relief to see junction 14 appear through the driving snow! Thos
All the snow has gone here. Temp about 5 and raining quite hard. Dark & miserable. But all is comparatively fair. My heart goes out to you, Gandalph, and your wife also.Thos.
Boris
Here's a recent view (40 minutes ago) from a webcam a couple of miles away from us !
andsome
It's misty here too now, and raing and thawing fast.
Gandalph
It's slowly thawing here too. I can see bits of the lawn through the snow. The temperatures must have got mild very early this morning as we had about seven inches of snow lying earlier.
Boris
Thawing - but still not pleasant out !
mark2
Not enough snow here in North Bristol and Bath over the last couple of days to be concerned, and not even 30mins travelling time to Boris's neck of the woods Lucky me had to work all day both days :D

CurlyWhirly
We were all sent home from work @ 12.00 as the Chief Exec thought that the roads "could be a bit tricky later ?"He was right ! - it's just taken me 3 hours to do the 7 miles back home.I got sent home early yesterday (around 10.15am) on my morning shift which usually finishes at 1pm but it took me nearly 2 hours to travel the 7 miles back home The snow has completely gone now as it's mild and wet - how the weather can change dramatically in just 24 hours! andsome
I have nothing personally against the South East. It's just too damned crowded, and London itself would to me be a nightmare to live in. The whole area is suffering from a severe case of over developement. It's just a place to visit occasionally and then come home to peace and quiet. I cannot see the sense in further expansion of Londons airports, probably the vast majority of users of these airports do not want to end up in London, it's just a staging post for onward destinations. I have heard it said that if Heathrow is not expanded further, then traffic will go instead to Amsterdam or Paris. This is patent nonsense. Who in their right mind who wants to end up in the Midlands or North of the country would go to Amsterdam or Paris? They would much prefer to fly direct to another UK airport. There is now talk of piping water down to the parched South East. More nonsense, the cost would be prohibitive. Much cheaper to offer subsidies to companies to set up business in the areas where there is plenty of water, and the housing there would be more affordable. South East, NO THANKS. :D

The weather here varies a lot from London - and from the South East which starts from beyond Brighton.
andsome
I'd forgotten where you live. You are of course lucky being that far from London, it's about the same distance as us.By the way, I just looked at your profile, you do read and write well for your age, especially as you are a blonde. :D
