artist
.......Tomorrow.Three years ago I injured my knee badly. It has been a succession of doctors and physio since then. Towards the end of last year I finally got angry. I felt that the doctor thought I was having him on and over exaggerating the pain. He just wouldn't refer me to the hospital. Walking, except for short distances was out of the question. We bought an invalid buggy two years ago as I was ruining any hopes of having decent holidays - and we DO like our caravan.I got a hospital appointment and expected to get a date for an internal look at my knee. Instead, the surgeon said a new knee joint was needed. I was a bit shocked to put it mildly! There is a history of arthritis in the family but unlike my sister it hasn't been a big deal for me as yet. There is also a history of DVTs - I have had two after leg operations in the past. But forwarned is forarmed as they say so I expect I'll be ok.I am looking forward to the operation in a way - it will be good to get back to walking again, eventually. I'm obviously worried about the expected pain but a friend had both her knees done at the same time. If she could cope with that, well I'm sure one will be a doddle. I expect to be home next weekend.
