doug
I hope Rebel got to see me. I got to the finish about 5 mins before the Red Arrows came past. In fact I was freezing in the queue to have my bar code label spiked when they came over.Personal time 2 hours 17 mins 15 secs (2 hours 28 mins last year). I had started my watch when Kelly fired the gun. The I zeroed it thinking it was for one of the races. So I started my watch again as I crossed the line - about 7 mins showing on the master clock at that point. Will have to wait for the official time to come through.Boy it was hard work trying to get round people. Had my pedometer going this year, forgot last year. Anyway it says I ran 15.25 miles (at 3.2 feet per step) 25,1669 steps and 1,720 kcals. So ratioing the distances I averaged 2.75 feet per step instead of my usual 3.2 feet.Given the hiccup to my training I'm quite chuffed. Using the bike helped to keep some of the muscles in trim but not the buttock or thigh muscles. They were giving me some gyp.So folks this temple to athletic prowess is now open for worship. The laurel wreath has been donned. The Vestal Virgins are anticipated. Mind in true Greaco-Roman style there isn't much on the roof and the stairs to the crypt are very rickety. It's a much nicer medal this year.Hope Rebel got a shot. No.1 daughter, hubby and Grandson saw the start and had such a struggle to get to Shields they skipped the finish and went straight to the meeting point. So pictures of the run are down to Rebel. doug
Just offered to go and water the wifes hanging baskets and pots (50 of them) but she said sit down and have a large G & T. Oh before that go and cover up the plants and close the green house. There's always a sting in the tail.

doug
Hi folks. No.2 daughter and hubby together with no.1 G'daughter arrived earlier for a chat. Then, a magnificent/alcoholic dinner, beef bourguinon with suitable beverages. One worrying thing when I stripped for the shower, my left big toenail has gone purple. Ah well a small sacrifice. Now having done the easy 3 of the 4 stages i.e. done the training; drummed up the sponsorship and done the run: I now have to rake in the spondulas. Details are:-Please make cheques payable to J.Chapman Re Hunters MoorJ.A.Chapman15 GraylandsWashingtonTyne & WearNE38 9HFi-bankingagain J. There is nothing that gives more satisfaction than counting money.Sorry craig I had given you the wrong a/c no but I spotted the arrival and corrected it. Keep it up lad - let the young uns know that us old fellas have still got a bit of puff left in us. I save mine for more pleasurable pastimes than running till my toes go purple though.
